In my opinion, the original 2003 show did a much better job of revealing this traumatizing event as there was 2 or 3 episodes that built up to it and you actually got to spend time with Nina so it hit even harder seeing what she had turned into.
One of the most complex and well-written stories with the best ending. At first, you think wth is happening but as the story unfolds and the climax takes place ❤️ It’s a masterpiece. Every character has its significance rather than highlighting one character to make him famous.

I read the full manga in middle school and this part has made me cry and I refused to finish reading the book for a few days. It hit so hard and it made me sick to my stomach at the realization that he used his daughter, his wife, and his dog for his experiments.
It traumatized me so bad I began to write fiction horror about illegal and unethical human experimentation that also used animals. I’m only remembering this now that I’ve seen the scene again.
